Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) aims to safeguard the health of women & children by providing them with a clean cooking fuel — LPG so that they don’t have to compromise their health in smoky kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood. The Government of India is providing domestic LPG to the APL and BPL and ration cardholder women of the country. The scheme is being implemented under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the Central Government.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is aimed at providing 5 Crore LPG connections in the name of women in BPL (Below Poverty Line) households across the country. PMUY was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on May 1, 2016, in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh.



The first condition for applying to Ujjwala scheme is that the applicant must be a woman.

The age of the woman should be more than 18 years.

She must be from a BPL family.

She should have a BPL card and ration card.

There should not be LPG Connection in the name of any family member of the applicant.

  • BPL Certificate Authorized by Panchayat Pradhan / Municipality Chairman.
  • BPL Ration Card.
  • One Photo ID (Aadhaar Card or Voter ID Card).
  • One Recent Passport Size Photograph.

Here is how to apply for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana:


Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana application can be made only through the offline mode by filling and submitting the application form at the nearest LPG distribution agency. While submitting the application form, one needs to submit a detailed address, Jandhan Bank Account, and Aadhaar number of all members of the household.


  • To avail of the Ujjwala scheme, you must first go to the official website
  • Click on the Download the form option in front of you.
  • After downloading the form, fill in all the information required.
  • Now you have to submit this form at the nearest LPG center.
  • Also, submit the documents related to it there. You will get an LPG connection after verification of the documents.
